• Was BMW's flagship car while in production
• Top speed estimated at 186 mph
• Total E31 worldwide production 30,621 built.
• Over 1.5 billion Deutschmark (nearly USD$1 billion) was spent on total development
• Combined with wind tunnel testing, the resulting car had a drag coefficient of 0.29 (for comparison, the Lamborghini Diablo has a higher Cd of 0.31 and the Ferrari F40 has a Cd of 0.34).  The only BMW with a lower Cd is the E90 3-series (2005-present).
• It was the first vehicle with an electronic "fly-by-wire" throttle.
